Wolf Designs Module 3.0 Watch Rotator

1. The Front Panel Layout

2. The Power

The Module 3.0 comes with a power adaptor (AC/DC adaptor) which converts main voltage to a DC voltage suitable for the operation of the Module 3.0. Alternatively, the Module 3.0 can also run on its built-in re-chargeable battery to enable it to be used where there is no mains power available. However, please ensure the built-in battery is properly charged up before using it on a standalone basis.

When the AC/DC adaptor is plugged into the Module 3.0, it will charge up the built-in rechargeable battery automatically. There are icons on the LCD, which indicate the AC/DC adaptor is detected and charging of the built-in rechargeable battery as indicated below.

When the battery is new, it is recommended that the battery be fully charged and discharged for five cycles before the battery can operate at its maximum efficiency.

To fully-charge the battery, the AC/DC adaptor should be plugged into the Module 3.0 and the above-mentioned two icons should appear, which indicates that the AC/DC adaptor is on and the battery is charging up. When the battery icon disappears, the battery is fully charged.

To fully-discharge the battery, the AC/DC adaptor should be unplugged from the Module 3.0, which forces the Module 3.0 to run on its internal battery. Run the Module 3.0 without the AC/DC adaptor until the battery low icon appears, which indicates that the battery has dropped to a low level and requires to recharged.

3. The Buttons

The Module 3.0 has four buttons marked “1”, “2”, “3” and “4”.

3.1 Button “1” – On/Off/Delay

This button has two functions, to turn the Module 3.0 on or off or to select time delay before a rotation program started.

When the Module 3.0 is off, pressing this button for about 2 seconds will turn on the unit. When the Module 3.0 is on, pressing this button for about 2 seconds will turn the unit off.

When the Module 3.0 is on, pressing this button once will change the time delay setting from no time delay to 24-hour delay and then to 72-hour delay. The LCD will be changed as shown below.

3.2 Button “2” – Rotation Program

The Module 3.0 offers four rotation programs, namely “300”, “600”, “900” and “CONT”, to suit different applications and user preferences. The “300” and the “600” rotation programs repeat every 24 hours while the “900” repeats every 48 hours. The “CONT” program is for running the rotating drum continuously, which is designed for display or demo purposes.

Button “2” is to toggle amongst these four rotation programs. The rotation program selected will be displayed in the LCD with the locations shown below.

When rotation program “300” is selected, the Module 3.0 will rotate 75 revolutions within 90 minutes, which will be repeated three times, giving a total 300 revolutions in 24 hours.

When rotation program “600” is selected, the Module 3.0 will rotate 150 revolutions within 90 minutes, which will be repeated three times, giving a total 600 revolutions in 24 hours.

When rotation program “900” is selected, the Module 3.0 will rotate 300 revolutions within 120 minutes, which will be repeated two times, giving a total 900 revolutions in 48 hours.

3.3 Button “3” – Direction

This button is to select the direction of rotation. Three selections are provided, namely the clockwise, the counter clockwise and the both directions of rotation. The direction of rotation selected will be indicated by the LCD as shown in the locations below.

3.4 Button “4” – Run/Stop

This button is to start or stop the rotation program with selected time delay and direction of rotation. When a rotation program is activated, the “STOP” icon in the LCD will disappear indicating that the Module 3.0 is in operation. When this button is pressed again, the current rotation program and time delay, if any, will be stopped and reset. It should be noted that when the Module 3.0 is in operation, the Buttons “1”, “2” and “3” could not be activated.

When no time delay is selected, the rotation program will be started after 10 seconds count down after the Run/Stop button is pressed. If time delay of 24-hour or 72-hour is selected, there will be no 10 seconds countdown and the countdown of 24 hours or 72 hours will be started immediately.

4. Errors and Warnings

4.1 Battery Low Warning

When the battery level of the Module 3.0 drops to a low level, the battery low indicator, “LO BAT”, will be displayed in the LCD, which indicates that the battery needs to be re-charged. Although the Module 3.0 will keep operating for a short period of time when the battery low indicator is displayed, it is recommended that the battery be re-charged by plugging the AC/DC adaptor into the Module 3.0 as soon as possible.

4.2 Rotation Error

When the Module 3.0 detects that the rotating drum does not rotate, as it should, the error icon, “Er” will be displayed as shown below. The user should check if there is anything preventing the rotating drum from rotating and remove it immediately. Press Button “4” once to resume the normal operation.

4.3 Battery Low Warning + Rotation Error

If the Module 3.0 is left running when battery low indicator is displayed, the rotation error together with the battery low warning will be displayed when the battery power has dropped to an extremely low level. At the same time, all the buttons, except the Button “1”, will be inoperative. It is important that the unit be re-charged immediately to its full battery level.

5. Troubleshooting

Problems

Resolutions Recommended

The rotating drum does not rotate when all parameters are set and the “STOP” is still displayed.

Please press Button “4” is to start the rotation program.

The adaptor is plugged into the Module 3.0 but the “ ç ” symbol is not displayed.

Check to see if the main power socket is switched on and the green lamp on the AC/DC adaptor should be illuminated.

The rotating drum does not rotate when a rotation program is started.

Check to ensure that the time delay is not selected to “24” nor “72”.

Check to see if the “STOP” icon in the LCD is displayed. If yes, press button “4” to start the operation.

The Buttons are not operative.

If a rotation program is started, the Buttons “1”, “2” and “3” will be disabled until the rotation program is stopped by pressing the Button “4”.

If the rotating drum is kept from rotating, the “Er” will be displayed. Please check if there is anything blocking the rotating drum and remove it before restarting the rotation program again by pressing Button “4” once.

The “LO BAT” is displayed but the unit seems to operate normally.

When the Module 3.0 detects that the battery level is low, the “LO BAT” will be displayed. However, most units can still operate normally at such battery level. It is recommended the unit be recharged as soon as possible.

The “Er” and the “LO BAT” are displayed and the unit hangs up.

The Module 3.0 detects that battery level has dropped to very low level. It is recommended that the unit be recharged immediately.

6. Recommendation

1. If the unit is not intended to be used for a long period of time, it is recommended that the unit be re-charged to its fully battery level before storing it for a long period of time. Please ensure the unit is turned off before putting it away. It is also recommended that the unit be recharged every year even when it is not intended to be used.

2. If the unit is intended to be carried around when the AC/DC adaptor cannot be used, it is recommended that the unit be recharged to its full battery level before carrying around for a long trip or storing into a safe for a short period of time to ensure that the battery capacity is enough to last for that period. To force the AC/DC adaptor to charge up the battery, it is recommended that the DC plug be unplugged from the unit and wait for about 3 seconds before re-plugging into the unit again. The unit will be re-charged with the battery icon displayed. When the battery is fully charged, the battery icon will disappear.
